The Stopover

After suffering a month of Sebana withdrawal symptoms, we were finally back!

First stop, a herb garden/farm (to-may-toes, to-mah-toes!) at Sungei Kapal.  It is owned and run by Mei Mei, a woman who is very passionate about her plants. She's one of our volunteer's distant relations. Not a coincidence, of course.

Herbs, glorious herbs!

Fish food! Or maybe not...

First image(above, above) is that of some of the herbs she has in her garden. The second image(directly above) is of something else entirely different. Those are actually plants grown for the aquarium trade! Interestingly they are not grown submerged under water, but instead, appear to be growing just as terrestrial plants do! It's a strange and interesting world we live in...

Taoist Temple and its explosion of colours
The Taoist temple above is also owned by Mei Mei and is within her home and farm. Incredibly, at the ungodly hour of 4am every single morning, when most of us are snuggled up under our blankets(or maybe not, what with the unbearably hot weather lately), this petite woman gets up to pray and chant! (Google: Taoism)

Stick around to catch a glimpse of the kind of herbs she grows. After all, she does attribute her youthful, glowing skin to her daily intake of herbs from her garden :)
